Our MFL curriculum (delivered from Years 3 to 6) provides excitement, enjoyment and challenge for both children and teachers; helping to create enthusiastic learners and to develop positive attitudes to language learning throughout life. At Manor, we believe that a high-quality language education fosters pupil’s curiosity, cultural capital and deepens their understanding of the world. The teaching of French at Manor enables our children to express ideas and thoughts in another language, as well as respond to speakers verbally and in writing. Children are afforded opportunities to communicate practically, learning new ways of thinking and reading great literature in its original language. MFL teaching at Manor provides the foundation for learning further languages, equipping pupils to study and work in other countries via four key areas: speaking, reading, writing and listening. The natural links between languages and other areas of the curriculum enriches the overall teaching and learning experience.

To enable and support the understanding of a diverse world, children are exposed to high-quality MFL teaching which empowers students to become: successful learners who enjoy learning and therefore make rapid and sustained progress, achieving the very best in our chosen target language. Confident individuals who are able to communicate and understand ideas, facts and feelings with fluency and expression. Globally aware individuals who develop a cultural capital across the breadth of the curriculum, drawing links upon their French learning continuously. At Manor, we equip and empower our children to become knowledgeable and empathetic pupils who appreciate the culturally diverse world around us.
